Asian Curry Awards 2012


Yes, it is official, Mango Lounge in Windsor has been awarded the Best South Asian Restaurant London Home Counties on 25th November, 2012. Head Chef Ashwani Kumar, who is no stranger to receiving awards, also received a certificate of ‘Highly Commended Asian and Oriental Chef of the Year during the same ceremony.

The awards ceremony took place at a gala dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Mr Yawar Khan, the CEO of Asian Curry Awards, who organizes these awards, visited Mango Lounge personally before the ceremony. He was much impressed with the décor, service and food, particularly the presentation skills of head chef Ashwani Kumar.

Approximately 5,000 restaurants across the country were nominated for the prestigious Asian Curry Awards and only 60 were short listed.

Head chef Ashwani Kumar was also selected to take part in the finals from a list of 700 finalists who took part in a cook off in central London for the title of ‘Best Young Asian and Oriental Chef of the year’

The chief guest at the glittering ceremony was Dr. Vince Cable, MP, Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills, with guest of honour Rt. Hon. Don Foster, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of States, Department of Communities and local government.

Also in attendance were high commissioners of China and Malaysia.
Ambassadors of Nepal, Srilanka, the politician Minister from Japanese Embassy and Deputy Head of Mission from the Swedish Embassy

Sky TV presenter Lukwesa Burak was the energetic host of the evening.

The entire event was generously sponsored by a number of UK based food and drink companies including Kingfisher Beer, Booker Cash and Carry, Grosvenor House Hotel and the catering was provided by award-winning Madhu’s restaurant in Southall.
